Up until now, the photographic work of Frank Uwe Laysiepen (1943, Solingen, Germany; in Amsterdam since 1968) has been fairly unfamiliar to the public at large. With Performing Light a presentation of Frank Uwe Laysiepen exceptionally multifaceted oeuvre, De Appel, institut of contemporary art in Amsterdam, intends to change that. A number of the exhibition rooms will be transformed into living and productive laboratories. The presentation will keep changing throughout the course of the exhibition as guest curators present new selections (and interpretations) of the artist's oeuvre and archive. → more
